H-class MH860 storage system

Scalable Unified 10 GbE Storage for Datacenters
The MH860 is Nimbus’ most advanced multi-protocol storage system, ideal for HPC, storage-as-a-service, scientific computing, multimedia, and imaging (medical, satellite, and geophysical) applications. The MH860 offers iSCSI, NFS, and CIFS protocols, as well as SAN file system support, on one modular storage system based powerful 10 Gigabit Ethernet. FlexScale technology provides seamless expansion up to 216 TB using any combination of SATA, SAS, and SSD drives in one system. Six independent SAS expansion channels enable the MH860 to scale in performance and capacity while reducing energy, cooling, and cabling requirements. Quad 10 GbE ports, 24 GB of cache, and a 140 Gbps architecture provide the raw horsepower needed for bandwidth-critical applications, without the complexity and cost of Fibre Channel-based infrastructure. The MH860 draws as little as 19 W per TB, and unlike clustered systems, cost per TB decreases as storage capacity increases.

  MH860
Overview Benefits Specifications
Reduce expansion costs by 40%
With clustered iSCSI arrays, there are no cost per TB savings as the storage is expanded, leading to excessive capacity costs over time. With the MH860, cost per TB decreases as the system is expanded since only additional capacity is required, not entirely new systems.

Reduce hardware/software costs by 50%
Enterprises require both block and file storage, but iSCSI-only systems cannot provide file storage without NAS gateways. The MH860 provides unified iSCSI SAN and NAS in one system, eliminating hardware and software costs and retaining centralized management.

Cut power/cooling costs by 70%
Unified iSCSI SAN and NAS with the MH860 means that just one system, not two, can meet both block and file storage needs, cutting power and cooling costs. 80% fewer components further reduce the MH860's power consumption to as little as 19 watts per managed TB.

Consolidate substantially more digital content
Clustered iSCSI arrays rely on just 2-3 Gbps of bandwidth for all network traffic between servers and storage nodes. The MH860 isolates network and storage traffic on separate 10 Gigabit Ethernet and SAS links for 140 Gbps of total bandwidth to support far more digital content storage.

50x improvement in I/O performance
A large policy-based cache ensures the most critical applications achieve cache hits, eliminating the latency of drive seeks. Solid state drives provide ultrafast capacity for applications like virtual computing and databases. By storing select I/O-intensive data on SSD, users can eliminate I/O bottlenecks and improve application responsiveness.

Standardize on Ethernet to simplify IT
10 Gigabit Ethernet offers more bandwidth than Fibre Channel while enabling organizations to standardize on familiar Ethernet networking. Server adapters and switches are now affordable, making 10 Gigabit Ethernet the ideal long-term storage infrastructure.
